Picked zit..now skin infected??

I had a pretty large "inside" zit a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't ready to be popped, but I tried and tried, and after a couple of days, now it looks like it is infected. I have a pic, but I don't know if I can post a pic out here. The skin that seems infected is about 3 inches in diameter, VERY flaky and itchy and very red. I have been putting Aveeno lotion on it, as well as some triple antibiotic ointment. Nothing has helped. Today is the first day that I have tried putting nothing on it, and it's dry and itchy. HELP. Does anyone know what this might be?? Ugh...this will teach me to stop picking my face....
 
Ouch..I would see a doctor..that's weird how the infected skin is 3 inches. I really don't know what else to say. If you had just done it I would tell you to put alcohol on it to stop the bleeding and disinfect it in case the object you used to pop your pimple was not properly sterilized. But I would definitely see see a doc...you don't want it to get any worse..if worse can happen!
