After reviewing the options available to me for my Alltel account, the choices are as follows: http://www.letstalk.com/product/productComp.htm?pgId=100&fromFC=1&overrideLimit=1&search=32061_30298_31796_29772_32226_32128_29771&useDefaultPlan=1

a. I really like the LG AX8600/VX8600, but Alltel can't make up their minds whether or not the phone is available.
b. The Moto Q is cool, but when will it be available?

I am interested in YOUR opinion on which phone(s) would be best for my usage habits (in order of priority):
1. Voice (of course)
2. Internet data (tethered via V710 right now)
3. SMS text (100 or so/mth)
4. Access Web Browsing (very little usage)

I don't care much about the size as I've carried everything from an early brick phone to the Moto V265 over the years.

THANKS for your time and input!

get the one that is like the lg 8600 its a sweet phone it available not out yet girlfirend has the verizon one and her son has alltel he got a e815 til his plan runs out in a year

The Alltel version of the AX8600 is the same thing as the Verizon VX8600. The only difference is the external color and Verizon crippled their version and put their own UI on it.

But I do agree that this sounds like the best option. The last I heard on the release date was 3/22. Apparently it was pushed back a week (hopefully just a week) because the cases were scratching the paint off the phone and they're doing a combo package with the Family Choice plan where you can get an AX245 for free with the purchase of the AX8600. I also hate the fact that Alltel is a little slower in releasing phones, but the good part of that, is when you pay $80 for a phone you're stuck with for 2 yrs. you know that Alltel does extensive testing on it and the bugs are worked out. Just look at how buggy the Sprint and VZW KRZRs are in comparison. Hopefully the Q will be the same way if it ever gets off the shelf. But I guess the point is, if you're going to invest in a phone with Alltel, even though it's not the newest it shouldn't give you a problem. And even though they're a little slower on new phones, I find the rest of the service top notch. The coverage, minutes for the price, customer service, etc.

But as for your 4 requirements:

1. I've heard this phone really sounds clear. There's no 'barrel effect' like you get out of most Kyoceras and it's really good for having nice sounding calls.
2. You can continue to tether with the AX8600
3. The phone does support text/pic/vid messages
4. It does have axcess web (as long as it's on your plan)

THANKS ghostchild. Your reply was very helpful. I'll see what happens this week with the AX8600. Now the only "thorn in my side" is the cost of an extra battery, a car charger, the data cable and maybe the need for a new case. ARGH!
