An explosion breaks an object initially at rest into two pieces, one of which has 3 times the mass of the other. If 8000J were released in the explosion, how much kinetic energy did the heavier piece acquire? (In Joules)
Could u explain how did u get the answer?

It got half of the energy. Its weight will effect its velocity but not how much energy it gets. 4000J
