i just came across a question where i had to apply the conservation of linear momentum theorem.
a block with certain velocity slides on to a wedge (not fixed with the ground, ground is frictionless).
when the block slides on to the wedge ,, why do they have a common horizontal velocity ?
shouldn't their horizontal velocities be different ?
please explain in detail since i am very very confused.
Thank you very very much in advance :):):):
