I'm so boggled by this magnetism stuff. Could someone please help?!!
I have a question I'm trying to solve about the radius of the path of an electron...
kinetic energy of one electron is 1.09e4 eV moving south (assuming this means that my charge is 1.09e4)
uniform magnetic field is 490 Gauss in east direction (equivalent to 0.0049 T I think)
question asks to
1. find the radius of the path
2. direction of initial force
3. shape of trajectory
For question 1 I would like to use the equation r=(mv)/(qB) I think... But I don't know how to find v...
I have no idea about the direction quesitons... The right hand rules are very confusing the way my book and teacher explain them.... I know that the answer to question 2 is downward and the answer to question 3 is in a circle... But I don't know why.
Could someone PLEASE help... my final on this stuff is coming up in a week.
