Physical medicine and rehabilitation occupational medicine?

Has anyone seen a physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation and occupational medicine what methods do they use are they the same as physical therapist can anyone tell me more about them and do I still need to see my family doctor to refill my prescriptions or can they do that for me how often do i need to see a occupational medicine/physical medicine physician please any info is appreciated my doctor scheduled me to see one but didn't let me know what I'm in for
