PhP - MySQL - Database - Scripting Help?

I'm trying to make a 'currency' script for my website. But I am very new to databases, mysql, php, etc. I have actually been able to create a 'login, register and logout' script, but that's it. That was from the help of others, where half the script was written for me, so I can't say that I know everything that I'm doing. How would I go about making the currency script? (The currency is IN-GAME roleplay money, not real life currency). But I need it to be able to go up at certain days automatically, and go down whenever an item is purchased. How would I go about doing this? Please please please, list your sources, or any websites that may help. Thanks.

try the subject matter with 'video' as there are some video tutorials too
