PHP + lighttpd on ipod?

Ok. So I have a jailbroken ipod (3.1.2) and installed lighttpd on it. I've gotten it to work, except for PHP. I have installed PHP through cydia and whenever I try to access a php file on it, it gives me a http 500 error. This happens for every file with the extension ".php" and happens with files with no actual PHP code in it.

Anyone have a solution?

P.S. this is an ipod.

I also checked here:

but don't see
"/opt/iphone/bin"
on my ipod.
