Photoshop QuickMask Trouble?

I'm trying to use quickmask and usually it works completely fine so I don't understand why it's doing this all of a sudden. I masked my area as usually, then went to change the saturation and instead of the area I had selected changing, the entire picture surrounding my selecting area changed! Very confused! Any ideas?

The ideas would be to get a new quick mask and go to another new photoshop.
