I'll try to keep this simple. To start, I am into photography as you no doubt probably already understand. You can find my deviantart here:
latrodectus-pallidus.deviantart.com. Now, here is why I provided my link. My images (to some) appear too dark, while, to others they appear too bright/washed out. I have calibrated my monitor to the best of my ability but I printed out one of my images today and it appeared much darker than what I am seeing on the screen. How do my images look to you? Now, for the real question:
What do I need to do on the Photoshop side of things? Should I leave everything default? Or do I need to change it from North American Press color profile? etc. I currently use CS4, Adobe Gamma is no longer a package deal with the CS series, and I wonder why this is. I don't have 200-300 dollars for the expensive Spyder calibration equipment. Currently, my monitor only allows me to change my gamma to -50(SRGB) 0, and 50. I have no idea where this lays on the Gamma scale, as, they decided not to go with the easier to understand Gamma 1.0, 1.8, 2.0 etc. I've tried some guides I found via google and it would seem my monitor checks out but I have no idea why such huge differences between print, what others see, and what I see.
