I wish to create a photo much like as done on the home page of the Cat Empire:

I was wondering how this could be done? Basically I have about 200 photos where I'll stitch some of them together into a giant square like done in the site above, and then I want to lay a logo which I have over it but in the way that it achieves the same effect as above. What do I have to do in photoshop to achieve this? I've tried difference and exclusion but it's not the same. Also, would I use a shadow on the logo to achieve a better visual effect?
