Photoshop cs5 tga file problem?

I play an online game-secondlife, I recently bought a template, so i save the file off of secondlife onto my harddrive, it saves as a .tga file, and the background of the picture should be transparent, so i can reupload it, but it isn't it had a black background, how can i fix this to make it transparent
