Photoshop CS4 to Flash CS4 help?

I need to make a basic webpage design in photoshop and then bring it into flash. The whole point of it is to see how easy the layers transfer over. Now in class, after adding some blending options to a few buttons in photoshop.. we did something to collapse the fx's of those layers. Any idea how to do that? And also after that, how would I even bring it into Flash? It's somewhat new to me, so I'm a little confused here.. any help would be great! Thanks
