use the head of a mop, a teddy bear, a stand in, anything that you can frame the shot with, then use the timer and jump into the frame where the teddy or whatever was

I would like to take self portraits of my self. But whenever I try to, the camera either takes the wrong angle (like my face gets cut off or my arm) or it just doesn't come out as good. Yes I do have a tripod, about 4 feet to 4'8 feet. Since I am 5'0 feet I either have to kneel a little, set the tripod on a higher spot, or adjust the height of the tripod. I can not buy another tripod because my parents wouldn't let me. I have a Canon EOS 40d and I do put it on portrait mode. So does anyone have any tips on Self Portrait shots? Especially not having my face cut off or any other part of my body?

When you set up your camera mark a spot on the floor or on your backdrop to show you where to sit. If you don't like your picture, adjust the mark to your liking. The right lighting helps too.
