Photography for my wedding?

To cut down on the cost, I was thinking of having a photographer take pictures of the wedding party. As for the reception, I was thinking of putting disposable cameras on the table for guests to take pictures at their leisure, but having the mc announce that the cameras are for the bride and groom to enjoy the pictures later.

What do you think of this? My wedding is not super formal, but I want it to be nice. I can't really afford a photographer for the entire wedding and reception.

I think you're watsing your money having disposables. The only pictures I have seen from those cameras have been okay at best. Maybe just let your guests upload their own digital pics to a website like Snapfish or Kodak Gallery for sharing?

I was at one wedding where some drunk gentlemen took ten disposable cameras into the men's room and snapped puictures of their genitalia. The bride and groom paid to develop pictures of their manhood and got in trouble with the photo developer until they figured out what happened. Other pictrues I have seen turned out blurry or where of random people's heads/feet/midsections. Just not worth the money to develop!

Good luck!

Yeah you only really need a photographer with good equipment to get the formal shots of the wedding party. Anyone can take candid shots during the reception. instead of having the DJ announce it though, put a sm card or sign on ea table asking guests to leave the cameras, or put a label on each one.

having disposables on the tables for the reception is a GREAT way to cut costs besides the nice photos should always be of your closest family along with you're bridal party itself. Their is nothing wrong with doing it that way.
