Photo printing problem with cropping?

I take phots and edit/crop them using irfanview, then i send them to wal mart.com to have them printed and when I pick them up they're cropped all ridiculous! Not how I had them! How can I get them to print exactly as I've edited them!? I've heard something about the ratio being off...so how do I fix it? THANKS!
And what is a better quality printing service? Other than walmart/walgreens
 
You will need to take into account what your printing when you crop. In irfranview I believe you can set what the ratio is (I don't have that program). So if you were to print a 4x6 you'd want a 2x3 ratio (4/2=2, 6/2=3). An 8x10 would be a 4x5 ratio. And so on.

If you just crop willy nilly without any ratio you'll get crazy stuff happening.

Just about anything is better than Walmart IMO. Printing at home is about the only thing that's worse.
