phones and ringtones???????

whats the best audio format for a ringtone?? i recently put a song (mp3 format) on my phone to use it as a ringtonebut when i get a call it doesnt ring as much as the standard nokia or any other default set ring tone does....
 
Yes i know about ring tone formation. But you know that china phone have all type of ring tone facilities oh their all model.
