I have a question say i wanna get a nextel i730 online and a plan with it, too i buy it for 49.99(with the contract). i know this phone is worth alot, can i trade it in for another nextel phone or for a boost one(boost i730), because the dealer can take the sim card out of it and put it in another phone and the dealer knows how to unlock the boost phone. i wanna trade it into a nextel dealer as soon as its activated and it comes to my house. can i do that?, i like the boost i730 because of the boost logo on it. the nextel one looks good only on the color but i hate the color gray when its around the small toolbar screen, and nextel has that but a nextel dealer said i cant change the gray part around the toolbar screen.

The i730 boost is coming down in price.. You should see it below $99 the i450 is out of stock and they have reduced the i730 to make up for it. You can buy it and sell the starter kit out of it. Retail stores get $35 for it. Just a thought.

that varies store to store.. Nextel's official policy is www.Sprintbuyback.com and they will issue a credit on your bill for the trade in. Most direct stores use this. I just checked the i730 is $25. Now compared to my store, we give $50, we are an authorized service center (not owned by nextel). If it were brand new never used you might get more.

ok but you did not answer my question can i trade a nextel phone for a boost mobile phone and still be able to get nextel on it? when i got nextel service i expected a offer for a free nextel phone, the phones costed so much. the dealer said he could get me something cheaper, that something was a boost mobile i730, it cost me only 55 dollars, i wanted a nextel phone, but the boost one looks hot. most dealers sale the boost i730 for at least $180 dollars, i got mine with a contract so it only cost me 55 dollars. a friend a told me that out on the street, they sale an i730 for only 20 dollars nextel or boost one. what is the value of a boost i730 now? how much is it without a contract?

As I said it varies by store! My store would NOT sell you a Boost phone on Nextel. But the store down the street from us would. Now they don't take trade ins but we do. So you would have to check around.

A Boost phone on Nextel means limited repair and tech support and is frowned upon by Nextel and Boost.

1st It is a dealers contract not to do it. Boost limits the inventory we buy and only add more when we activate them on boost, so that we can not use them on Nextel. Boost reduces the cost of the equipment thinking they will make it back on the airtime. Normally on Nextel a dealer looses the money because he will get a commission. So the Boost phone is cheaper because Boost lost money on it. They do not want us selling it on Nextel because they will not make it back on the airtime. Nextel doesn't offer any kind of support like warranty or repair on Boost phones. As a service center I can not even get parts for them and unlocking them will technically void the warranty directly from Motorola. So Nextel doesn't want the head ache of you buying this phone and getting very mad and canceling because you can not get it fixed. "It was sold to me by a Nextel store!", you will argue and you will demand a replacement or you will cancel. .. So that is why Nextel doesn't want it. You say B.S. and I say it is not. It happens in my store at least once a month with either a Boost phone or an aftermarket housing that someone bought elsewhere and we say replace it or go back to where you got it. Sorry

what about when people get nextel on boost mobile(service). does nextel limit it to prevent that, and why does nextel and boost mobile have same name and model for phones and speaker phone feature?.

Once when i was searching something on yahoo about an affliation between nextel and boost mobile, i found links where people were talking about getting nextel(phones) on boost mobile(unlocking nextel phones), and unlocking boost phones to be compatible with a nextel sim. people do that, they buy a phone somewhere else or buy it from a nextel dealer and unlock the phone weither its boost, by the way the other day i was chatting with a nextel sales rep. and she said nextel and boost mobile are not affliates, now im really confused, b/c u say they are.
