Phone suggestions

I want to switch to Verizon from sprint because of their much better local coverage.
I don't want (to pay for) a smartphone plan, but I would like the following:
  • Sync with google calendar.
  • gmail access would be nice.
I don't mind the $10/month data plan but not $30. I don't want web browsing, vcast, or any other non-free services. I rarely text anyone,
Are there any phones which can do this?

95% of the time I'm using my phone, I'm in WiFi range. Can I get an Android phone, then cancel the data plan and use WiFi only?
