Phone Number to call HP to dispute warranty terms?

OK, so I have this laptop and HP wants $500 to repair it (the screen hinges broke). It is still under warranty but they say the damage is covered. They say that anything "not a factory defect" is not covered, but if the laptop broke from normal use, was well taken care of, and not dropped or anything, shouldn't it still be covered?

Is there a HP phone number I could call to dispute this?
(the yahoo liason I talked to could not give me directory assistance due to "company policy")

So short of suing them, how could I dispute the warranty and get my laptop fixed?

no, their warranty is their warranty. you bought their product then you abide by their warranty. You don't sue someone for something like that.

How can you get it fixed? Do you have a friend who fixes computers? If it's such a big deal maybe you can fix it yourself. You just said yourself that they say it is still under warranty and is covered, so ask them if they could send you their box by UPS or FedEx for you to put the laptop in or should you send your own box. Usually they send one to you, you put the laptop in thre and then call the UPS or FedEx or whomever and they will pick it up. HP will look at it and make determination and return one to you.

Before you ever send anything in the mail make sure you remove all your stuff off of it (documents, pictures, favorites and anything else of importance to you).and save it to a cd.

The only number you need is the one on the box or paperwork for the laptop that you received when you bought it. HP "will" answer you IF you don't talk about suit.
