Phone for a Canadian noob.

Hi there,

Forgive me for posting another "which phone should I get?" threads, but the search is down right now (it directs to: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 17 bytes) in /var/www/forums/search.php on line 843), and my questions haven't been answered by any of the other threads I've read.

Anyways, i'm looking for a new phone that has, in the following order of importance: Good sound on the voice (both incoming and outgoing).A good camera/video camera.Easy to text.Maybe a little email/internet functionality.Under $500 CAD hopefully.
Anything else is icing on the cake. Because I live in Canada I think that limits my choices greatly, although I've heard unlocking can fix that. From what I understand, unlocking my phone would allow me to put in a SIM card from a company in Canada and simply proceed as normal. Is that correct? If so, will that work with both PAYG and the carriers?

And a bonus question: Whats the deal with "3G" and "EDGE" etc? I think it refers to internet connectivity speed?

Thank you if you can clear any of that up for me and even suggest a phone!

The w810i is a good, solid phone with the best camera i have ever used (2 megapixel, autofocus, flash), awesome RF, and easy to use texting (great keypad and predictive text).

If it's unlocked, you can use it with any GSM carrier, just pop in your sim and go, or activate it on a monthly contract or pay as you go. Plus, if it's unbranded, you have access to mp3 ringtones that you don't have to DRM package and flash menus and a few other extras.

You can pick it up on ebay unlocked & unbranded for about 250$

It is an older model, the w610i is it's successor, but the w610i has harder-to-use keys.
