First, a little background on what I've had. I currently have T-Mobile, but the rest of my family uses Verizon, and I wouldn't mind switching since the coverage and reception are both very similar where I live. The first nice phone I got was a Nokia 7610 from Hong Kong, then after that I got a Sidekick 2. After about a month with the SK2, I sold it on eBay and picked up an SDA.
I loved my 7610, it looked nice, worked great, was a perfect size, and people always asked me "where'd you get that awesome phone?" But after like 2 years with it, I got bored with it and decided to get a Sidekick 2 for the AIM and web browsing. After realizing the reception, call quality, game selection, and the web browsing was slow as hell, I immediately sold it. With the money I got from the SK, I purchased an SDA on eBay and I thought I had exactly what I was looking for. It reminded me of the 7610 because of the similar size, a very customizable OS, and the excellent call quality I've had with it.
I've had the SDA now for about 5 months and now I'm really getting bored with it. It doesn't have the "WOW" factor that the 7610 had and sometimes the SK. People look at my SDA and they're like "what is that hunk of junk". I'm looking for something that is very fast, my SDA bogs down all the time, even after overclocking it. It really makes me mad when my phone slows down to the point where I just end up taking the battery out and putting it back in all the time. I also want something that looks VERY sleek. I'm not that interested in the customizable OS as much now. I've had my fun with windows mobile, and symbian, and they aren't as great as people make them out to be. They're just less stable and the crap you download for them ends up being junk anyways. I'm not interested in watching movies, streaming radio, or anything else that doesn't make sense when I usually have my laptop on me most of the time.
One other big thing I'm looking for is game selection. Two games that I really like are Derek Jeter Baseball 2006 3d, and Brother in Arms 3d. Don't mistake those with the 2d versions of the games, I'm looking for the 3d versions.
The phones I'm looking at right now are the Verizon LG VX8500 (Chocolate), Sony Ericsson w600i, and the LG VX9900 once it's released. I'm not in a huge rush to get a phone, but would like to get a new one within the next 2 months. If you guys have any other suggestions please let me know. Money isn't a huge issue but would like to be under $300.
If anyone out there with one of these phones I listed, could you give me an opinion on them and if they fit into what I described. Please let me know if these games are available for the handset, since it doesn't show the 3d versions on gameloft.com. If you could, I would love to see a complete list of games, and apps available.
One last thing, an AIM client would be awesome. Wouldn't have to be as good as the SK version, but just something I can log into for a bit and log out after an hour or two.
Sorry this is so long and drawn out, but I wanted you guys to get a feel for where I was coming from and what I'm looking for in a phone. Thank you for your help.
