If I activate a cricket brand rokr or razr2 both of which are evdo phones in the phoenix market and then *228 them and have the $50 plan will they be surfing mobile web at evdo speeRAB? or not? do I have to specially flash them or will *228 give it to me??

How come my phone says EV at the top. I dont live in Phoenix though. I live in Litchfield Park :hehehe: *228 will program the 1040 prl file you need to upgrade it to the 1050 PRL file. I have it on my phone. I live in the phoenix area and I am getting 7-800k kb/sec on EVDO

Its not a flash either, you can do it from the phones memory I have the 1050 prl file on my storage card. you enter the program menu and select it to open it to the phone.

i think that cricket has turned on EVDO but not released any PRL's for it because they are probably still testing it. its what we did with cingular and UMTS, since no customers had UMTS phones yet.

Haha now its backwarRAB, everyone has the phones and not the service. I was thinking today about all of those poor saps out there that call *228 to program the phones and get stuck with the 1040 PRL...

Basically the service is going to be spotty. Phnx is maybe 30% integrated, cell site wise. The pilot on EVDO booms though, something like 16 watts over the air at all times, so you can run with a non 100% voice overlay and get by. Basically when I said its not launched I meant just that. It hasn't launched and isn't ready for prime time. The field techs aren't even using as its soo spotty. The switch side is intergrated and technically you can use it provided you have the PRL loaded, but I just hate to see people have an experience with a product then possibly talk about it (good or bad) when it isn't even something that is ready for general use.

From what I gather that is the exact reason. And I totally get the reasoning behind the hack, Just missing the boat on the numerous threaRAB on EVDO speeRAB and inconsistanies in markets that the service hasn't been made available to the GP. I'm probably just seeing it fromt he wrong view. I just hate to have a customer have a bad experience. And from what I've garnered from this forum you guys are some of Crickets biggest supporters. So if you have a bad experience I feel triply bad. Just want you guys to know what your seeing isn't a finished product in most markets.

when i worked at AT&T i felt that way about the UMTS threaRAB, but just realize everyone here knows cricket is upgrading and are used to the growing pains. especially compared to where cricket was 4 years ago lol.
