I got this beautiful shiny new Mp3 player for my birthday. I followed all the warnings about not plugging it in before installing the software, installed the software, and then plugged it in. The instant I did, my computer shut down. The light was still on but nothing was actually running. I unplugged the mp3 player and it refused to get past the start screen before doing the "lights on but no-ones home" routine, and I had to do a system recover to get it to even work again.
I called Philips, who asked me to try it on another computer. I just have and it seems to be fine. However, I've pressed Philips to give me more information which they were very reluctant to do. My system meets and in fact, exceeds all the minimum requirements for the mp3 player so why should it react the way it did? If anyone can tell me, I'd be most grateful, as I am thoroughly, THOROUGHLY irate at the moment.
