Peter Jackson remaking 'The Dam Busters'

Oh yes, it's a virtual certainty. Like Lord of the Rings, Jackson will re-write the story and tell it how he thinks it ought to have been.

My guess is that Churchill will turn down the dam raid idea but will be persuaded into changing his mind by Roosevelt.

During the raid, British pilots will determindly bomb the Dam, but all to no avail, and they will almost despair. But, at the last minute, an American crew, led by Viggo Mortenson, will go that bit further, braving the very worst of the flak, and will release the very last remaining bomb which, due to an enhancement that an American scientist insisted upon, (despite Barnes Wallace objections) will succeed in destroying the dam.
 
Why can't directors stop doing remakes, ok they use new special effects but nowdays effects can be so OTT they look shite! also it will be the same Yankee film where history gets written, and the yanks are the patriotic heroes! what bollox. I'll have to keep an eye out for the film crews if it's mean to be realistic then they'll be fiming 10 minutes away from me where the tested the bombs.
 
Yeah, looks that way. King Kong was a remake of LOTR (complete with a different interpretation of Orcs) - the difference being a CGI ape in the lead. ;-)

Whatever happened to the 'wee gore flick' he was going to do after his LOTR's trilogy was completed?

Bad Taste, Braindead, Meet The Feebles = all great, low-budget comedy gore flicks, with a lot of time, effort and devoid of any pretensions. Heavenly Creatures was a lavishly-crafted, subtle mini-masterpiece. Frightners was an enjoyable--and at times--scary horror flick. I think Jacko neeRAB to take stock and realise why he got into movie-making in the first place. Maybe temper the positive elements of his LOFR's movies with the humility and genuine, hand-crafted talent of his initial work. Leave the blue-screen at home next time...
 
I just hope they keep to the real facts about the dambuster raiRAB during WW2. As long as they do that i will have no problems with a remake. These types of films can serve both as entertainment and have good historical content. Look what they done with U-571. The film was ok fairly entertaining but changing the perspective of history to suit an american audience was terrible!!
 
I though his next picture was an adaptation of Alice Sebold's The Lovely Bones?

After the tiresome indulgence of Kong, A return to the Peter Jackson of Heavenly Creatures would've been most welcome.
