Petco and Cat Grooming..?

I am considering taking my cat in to get his nails trimmed and to have the soft claws put on.. since I saw on their website that they offer that service. NOT TO GET GROOMED. Does anyone have experience with this specifically?

I have tried to put Soft Claws on myself, but I believe I am doing it wrong.. because they come off a week later. I am either putting too much glue, or too little. Not sure. But he growls and becomes crazy so it takes almost all day to get all of them on.

Just to be clear, this is not for a cat to get completely groomed, and I am not going to try to put the Soft Claws on myself again.

Would just like to have some feedback about Petco and how they are with cats.
I have trimmed his nails. And he has 4 scratching posts strategically placed. However he still scratches the couch. =(

I have another cat who is a lot calmer, so putting the soft claws on correctly for him was a lot easier. They don't come off until they are ready to come off.

I've had a pleasant experience with Soft Claws thus far, I am just having trouble with one of my fur babies.

Petco groomers have VERY little experience with cats. I actually know someone who's cat DIED when it went it for just a bath. The groomer gave it something to calm it down and the cat went into a seizure and died. In order for those plastic claw covers to stay on the nails first have to be trimmed. If you can't do this on your own then have your vet do it.

Those claw covers are pretty useless and a cat can easily pull them off and swallow them. Why do you need them? Trimming the nails at least every other week and giving your cat alternate things to scratch on is all you need to do to keep a cat from clawing at furniture.
