Hi just today i went down to my mates dam and caught probs a 25cm silver perch i took him home and put him in my fish tank its only 4ft ive been thinking about it and putting it back in the dam but i really want to keep it but i dont know if its crual or not i need some good advice on if he will die or not or will he adapt ok. thanks highly appreciated.

It could potentially grow to 40cm/16" in length, so you would need a bigger tank as it grows. Something along the lines of 6 x 2 x 2ft (preferably larger) would be a sensible minimum.

These fish are frequently kept in aquariums, so if you can meet its requirements and look after it well then it should live for a fairly long time.

well if you RELLYYYYY want to keep them go down to a hard ware store and buy a pond filter about($25) and plastic pond lineing (about $30 ish) and buy a big square of it then dig a hole in ur yard put the lineing in put a few bricks around it to hold it up and put the pond filter in it wont look to good but you can make it as big as the lineing will go and as bigg as ur hole is (you can make it look good if you want with some care)
