There are three ways you can read it:

+Buy the two separate volumes (vol.1 covers Marjane's childhood, vol. 2 covers her teen years).

+Buy the special edition book with the book cover being from the movie that merges both volumes together to be a huge book. Figuratively speaking of the hugeness...

+Borrow the volumes from the library. Which wouldn't be so hard...

This movie is just precious.
It has those sad moments, but they're not really over stressed. And it has also its funny moments.
It's perfectly balanced out.

I switch back and forth towarRAB the English and French version. There's a bit of discrepancy in the translation in one scene where Marjane's mother mentions the age of her daughter.

Not really much of a big deal, honestly. The English says she's 12 or 13 while the French says she's fourteen.

I wasn't so sure if I wanted to buy the DVD. But temptation won.

Anyway, along with the story itself, the animation is superb. With pretty much majority of animated films being 3D these days, the 2D (I think) animation is great with the black and white...and occasional color.

I haven't watched it with the English audio yet. But I love the French version so far (provided with the subtitles )

:look: So I bought the DVD yesterday. It's $20 if you get it at Borders since there's some sort of promotional thing going on. Haven't popped it in yet though. Wanted to but I had a nasty headache last night.

Since I'm better, I'll watch it today.

Yeah. Usually if you go exactly as the book goes, it would last more than two hours.

I saw about 20 minutes worth on Nabollister but it was worth it. I can't wait for the DVD to come out.

They take stuff out, but IMO they had to. It wasn't too bad. Nothing was watered down as far as I could see. The movie happened to be playing very close to where I live (walking distance). Otherwise, I would've waited for the DVD.

I know it came out earlier but I only saw the ad for it not too long ago. Only problem is, they're playing it in one theater which is so far.

I loved the books. Marjane as a kid was cute indeed. Did they take out stuff from the book?

I saw it a month or so ago. I loved it. They toned down a lot of the information and history, but it was still very good. I thought the V/O actors did a really good job (especially little Marjane, she was so cute).

I was really impressed. The artist did an excellent job of animating her own style. I didn't think it would work animated but it really did. I'll probably buy the DVD when it comes out too. That's how much I liked it.
