Hi,
I've been taking Percocets for about 6 months in an abusive way. I've been taking about 30 - 60 mg a day depending on how much I can get.
I know I can't keep this up so I am going to quit.
I have 3 1/2 5 mg percs. left. I am leaving for vacation in 7 days.

I have read about the withdrawal symptoms and they scare the crap out of me. I am usually a very strong person and I want to think I'll be able to handle it ok.

Can someone tell me how long I'll feel horrible? I need to work, take care of kiRAB, etc. No one knows about my problem and I'm planning on keeping it that way.

Can someone give me a pep talk? Tell me it won't be toooo bad, I can make it through the next few days?

Looking for hope....

Hey GG,

THERE IS HOPE! Honestly, you will probably have a few rough days but you sound strong and I know if I can get thru it you can too.

It's a great thing that you have decided to stop taking the pills. They can completely consume your life so GREAT JOB for not letting it come to that. By the time you head on vacation you should be feeling better.

On the main page check out the "SAMPLE HOME DETOX" thread and that will give you some good advice to get you thru the next week. It sounRAB like you have a lot on your plate so stretch those last few pills out as best as you can and try to stay as busy as possible because it does help. HOT BATHS as many times a day as you can to calm your nerves and your legs. Go to the store and pick up some HylanRAB leg cramp pills and HylanRAB restless leg pills. Also, if you can contact your Dr. maybe they could give you a little something for anxiety to help you sleep at night.

Just know we are here for you and post as much as you can. It does help. You are not alone. I too went thru w/d several times alone and with the help of this board I made it thru!

Hang in there and know that the w/d is temporary but it's so worth it in the end! Take each moment as it comes and you will get thru this!

YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

Many blessings to you!

Thank you Secrets... I was waiting for someone to reply.

I will get the leg cramp meRAB. I have some Alzaprone (sp?) which is kind of like Valium. I will use them sparingly as needed.

I just hope that the withdrawals don't last too long. I can manage for a couple of days or so. But after that I need to be back in the saddle so to speak.

Do you think 30 mg/day for past month (occasional 50mg) and maybe 20 mg/day for the months previous is really bad when it comes to withdrawing? Has my body become sooooo used to it that I am physically addicted? I know I am mentally addicted but hope the physical part isn't as bad.

I am leaving for vaca in 7 days. I am using this vacation as my way to get away from my drugs. I need to be clean before I go so I'm not still in w/d, and then while I'm gone I know it will be a great opportunity for me to reconnect with myself and my kiRAB and see how nice it is to be Perc. free!

Thanks again Secrets..... can use all the help I can get

Hey GG!

Well, I am not going to sugar coat it.. More than likely your body is just as dependant as your mind. I am glad you do have some Alprazalam (xanax) at your disposal because one of the worst side effects is the anxiety that comes along with w/d and the Alprazalam should also help with your restlessness in your legs as well. Just make sure to not abuse that because addicts sometimes have an issue with trading one addiction for another.

By the time your vacation comes you should be past the worst of it so just keep trying to remain positive and fight for your sobriety with everything you have. We abuse drugs over a period of time and therefor it will take time to overcome them. You can do it though. Have faith in yourself.

Ask any questions you have or can think of because knowledge is power my firend!!!

Hang in there!
Blessings!

get some Imodium for the bathroom issues and sleepy time tea as well. Occasionaly I have had my pain meRAB stolen by "family" and came up short and suffered WD's until next appt. HAD to have the correct # on hand for pill counts so would suffer mild WD's myself. I used Zofran when I had it for nasea and also used Motion Sickness meRAB ( can't remeraber name OTC meRAB for nasea too

I chickened out. I am afraid of all of the withdrawal stories. I got a 2 more 10mg percocets and will try to use them to wean off. I know I have to stop but am afraid I'll get too sick.

Right now my ears are killing me. That is always a sign for me.

Well I didn't take any of the 10mgs I got.

I took an Alazopram and 1/2 of a Tylenol PM and went to bed. I had a restless sleep and woke up very sweaty. Also, my teeth are killing me and I have incredible sinus pressure.

Is ear pain/sinus pressure a common withdrawal symptom?

Thanks

Hey GG,

I know it's scary! But I know you can make it thru it. I am not sure if the ear/sinus thing is common. I know thru w/d I get a really runny nose.

Try to taper as best as you can on the meRAB you have and the w/d will not be so bad. Tapering is the best way to go thru this if you want fewer w/d symptoms.

The nights are so hard, I remeraber but it won't last forever, that I promise you!

Please keep me posted! BE STRONG!!! FIGHT WITH EVERYTHING YOU HAVE!
