Hi all! I was hoping someone could help me out with my question.I am a healthy 60 year old male who had surgery for knee injury last week.I was given percocet 7.5 mg's to take as needed up to 4 times daily. After the first few days,I am only using about 15 mg's daily. Can I just stop and switch to a "lighter" med, such as darvocet,or will I have problems? It has only been 8 days total. I took a pill about 7am this morning and feel fine. Thanks for any advice.
Best to all.

Since you haven't been using it very long, you should be OK, but you need to talk to your doctor first. It is the long term use of Percocet where you run into problems with the withdrawals. I am almost 60 years old myself and I was on Percocet for five months and I am having a very difficult time coming off of the drug and I am experiencing withdrawals. I was naive about the drug and I didn't understand all of its effects. But, for short term use most people do not seem to have any problems. Again, talk to your doctor and good luck. Let us know how you are doing.
