How long did it take until they started showing up? Did it happen right after the first pill, did it take a few weeks before they showed up? I ask cause i'm on day 5 and so far have had nothing bad happen yet ( knock on wood) Starting dose was 75 mg. Only problems that seem to be starting is a little stomach discomfort, BAD night sweats and Trouble sleeping. I always have had trouble sleeping though. So yea, just the usual side effects one would normally get with any other SSRI.

Greetings! yea i normally don't worry about starting other SSRI's but effexor is pretty much the most hated anxiety med on the planet lol. Even for people it works for they end up hating it when they come off it and say things like " i would only take it if i'm on it for the rest of my life" It's a SNRI though, and can have pretty bad side effects. I'm just hoping i'm in the clear since it's almost been a week, or if it takes a while even for the bad side effects to start.

I'm on 150mg Effexor XR.
I was on it once before and went off. I ended up needing to go back on it.
Side effects for me after starting, about a week , were increase in my anxiety, and sick stomach.
It is worth it to stick it out.
When going off, if you take your time and taper very slowly, you minimize the withdrawl effects.

So far so good! Sleeping is getting rough though man. I think i'm immune to all medications though, i barely even get any side effects, let alone the healing effects. Tomorrow will be one week. I'm definitely going to stick this out though and give it time to work it's magic ( hopefully) and not give up after a few weeks.

Also , are you just on effexor alone? is it a good med to mix with anything else like how usually docs prescribe say prozac and klonopin together, or is it best to let it work alone and not as a corabo.

It's different for everyone, I had a few side effects with Effexor, the worst for me were the dreams. Coming off's worse, for me at least. I'm trying to get off aropax at the moment, I can't stand it I give in and take one. My sister never gets side effects from any of them, she's not convinced they help her either. She took max dose of aropax for years, and just stopped cold turkey, had absolutely no withdrawal at all. Just goes to show you how different we all are. All the best.

I also take lorazepam as neededfor anxiety. The Effexor works great for my depression and some anxiety.
Try the Effexor alone first. You can always add something later.

i took effexor xl for about seven months and found it made me very agitated and i also believe it triggered cutting and burning with cigarettes.(at forty-five, having lived with depression for thirty years it seems strange to me to have started cutting suddenly!) since stopping it (thank goodness no horrible side effects, some people seem to have had a terrible time) i have stopped the burning but was cutting on and off since and this has escalated during the past few weeks. am bipolar with dysphoric mania. still trying to find right corabo of meRAB.

Wow, 8 weeks brando? Well, i'm just taking it for anxiety and have no bouts of depression. The only real side effects i'm worried about is it raising my blood pressure. I have OCD when it comes to my blood pressure, and my anxiety causes it to spike up. ( severe white coat hypertension, even when i'm alone and taking my BP) I'm hoping the effexor doesn't give me constantly elevated BP. Would it have started raising it by now? or does it only raise BP in some people? and even then is it only on extremely high doses?

I'm going to see my doc next week since it will be two weeks by then, either to raise my dose or see how i'm doing. Is two weeks too soon to raise the dose of this though? She started me at 75, would i want to stay on that for atleast a month before raising it?

In the long run will this help with facial blushing also? I also get that "hot flash" feeling when anxious. I take beta-blockers also, but all that does is slow down my heartrate. I still sweat/turn red while taking them.
