So recently i spilt beer and it got inside of my phone the buttons are all messed up...they either dont work or they bring up the wrong letter or number....i dried the phone out...used a hair dryer and nothing works...i can see corrosion on the circuit board around all the buttons...so knowing i dont have insurance plus t-mobile doesnt cover water damage...so me being the person i am i went and did a phone upgrade through t-mobile and extended my contract...i was only able to save about $75 on the phone....but now that i have done this and have not yet received the phone i am having second thoughts....does anyone know of a better way to go about a phone upgrade...as far as savings go?? i dont mind extending my contract but if i can save more money on a $300 phone i would like too...thank you

I heard a truck of yahung the back off and the battery out of the damaged phone. Then putting it(phone) in a bowl of rubbing alcohol for 2 minutes then take it out and leave it sit for 24hrs and it may work again. I've never tried this, but I heard it does work for water damage. ~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

Wow.. I thought i was just going nuts with trying to figure what " heard a truck of yahung the back off" was!! hangin off the back of trucks doesnt sound safe

Haha... its all good.. you should see some of my texting msgs.. wowser.. You would think I spoke in a different language in an unknown dialect..

Well to be honest I don't know. I think the alcohol forces the water and other junk out of the affected parts. Alcohol evaporates also. If your phone is dead, give it a try. It can't hurt it anymore than it already is. You can also try google and see other peoples results of trying it. I saw it on a Sony Ericsson forum btw.

I read somewhere that putting it in a bowl of uncooked rice will absorb the moisture. I spilled a vodka tonic on my 8700g before and i took the battery and everything out and put it in front of a fan for like 24 hours....in a few days it was back to normal. I think it sucks that T-Mobile doesnt cover water damage, even if you have a warranty.
