Good day,
I work for a law firm in Minneapolis, MN. Our attorneys all have PDAs, currently HP iPaq h6300s. The IT department, as well as the users, have not been satisfied with these devices. The main dissatisfaction is because of the volitile memory. We run a microsoft exchange server that the devices sync to regularly (every 15 min) and docks for them that connect to their laptops.
And now the reason for the post. I have been charged with researching into new PDAs as our lease for the iPaqs is up in November. Already we have ruled out anything that runs PalmOS because we enjoy the ease of getting PocketPC to sync with the exchange server but the attorneys have voiced that they want Blackberrys because everyone else has them. Us in the IT department are hesitant about blackberrys because that would mean another server for us to manage(on top of the 25+).
As far as BBs go I've narrowed it down to the 8700c and PocketPCs i've narrowed it down to Sprint's PPC-6700 and T-Mobile's MDA.
I want to hear about your experiences with these devices as a user and as someone who has to fix them. What would you think is best for both the user and the IT department that has to support them? Or maybe you have a suggestion of a different device altogether......
Couple things to keep in mind:
-needs Good batterylife
-Non-Volitile memory
-Mostly technology illiterate users
-Doesn't need anything fancy just email, calendar, contacts, and maybe a decent phone
-Sync with Microsoft Exchange relatively easy
-EDGE and bluetooth would be nice but not necessary
Thank you for your time,
~Jason
