ill tell you the whole story.
my brother got my dads old pc, which has two hard drives, C: and F:
xp was installed on C:
i tried to reinstall XP from scratch and reformat it, and it reformated and installed its self on F: instead of C:
so at the begining, it said "select which OS you want to install: XP or XP"
so i went on the recent one, and deleted all the C: partitions and made a new one, so C: was totaly blank, and it could boot XP from F:
but when i restarted the comp, it looked on C: for the startup files and couldnt find anything
so it says something like "startup failed, hit F1 to try again, F2 to enter setup"
i went on the bios setup, and there is no option to look in F: for startup, it just looks in the floppy, CD-ROM and C:
but it wont even boot from CD
i put in the XP CD into the CD drive, and there is no option to boot from it
so i put in the MS DOS floppy disk, installed it, and now i have MS DOS coming up everytime i boot.

Help?
XP was running fine from F: untill i rebooted. it just doesnt look in F: it looks in C:
