PC Problem... Cannot play music with windows media player?

my pc has a problem... whenever i try to play a music file like mp3 with music player (double click the file), windows media player doesn't start up. And when i right-click and select 'open with windows media player' then an error comes out displaying the path to my music file with this 'parameter is incorrect'. An example is this:

C:\users\StarHanabi\music\my humps.mp3
parameter is incorrect

Can anyone help me solve this problem?
Can also tell me why is this happening? thanks
