Parts cross-referencing S50 2007

Does anyone know of a manual or handbook or microfiche or something else that provides cross-references for my 2007 S50? Yeah, 99% of different years probably do match, but I'm likely to buy something in that other 1% that doesn't fit without some fiddling or drilling, or whatever.

Also, right now I'm looking for an Intruder sissy bar as the first addition to the bike, but not sure which years to look for (or avoid). I also looked at the aftermarket "Restyling" brand but have no clue whether it would look good on the bike. Does anyone have experience with tht brand? The dealer's prices for sissy bar and rack are beyond my wallet.

I figure a cross-reference index would do the trick. There must be something out there, other than asking a dealer?? Anyone know? Thanks

I sometimes go to the microfiche on my dealers site here. They don't have a cross reference of parts but you compare part numbers from different years to determine fitment. The S50 came into existence in 2005 as a renamed VS800 Intruder which was 2004 and earlier. One of the differences was the sissy bar which was included on the Intruder but and option on the S50. As far as I know any sissy bar made for the VS800 Intruders would fit the S50.

Your right though, those things are way too expensive from Suzuki, especially so since they don't include the rear rack.

It is easy- the only things that changed from the 1992 and up Intruder 800 to the S50 were:

Left side switch box- the S50 has an extra button for 4-way flashers

turn signals- the S50 ones are different but they directly interchange with other years

handle bars/ risers- they are different but directly interchange if you keep them together as a set
pre-1998 intruders have wiring inside the handlebars, so you can use the older bars on the newer bikes but not the newer bars on the pre-1998s.

cylinder heads- the post-2004 ones have mounting bosses for that fake air cleaner/ toolbox

the seats are different, but interchange if you use the hardware from the year the seat is from

the electronic ignition does not interchange between California and 49-state models, any year.

That's it. Everything else is the same. The sissy bar now sold as an accessory is the same exact one that used to come standard, so it bolts right on.

Restyling is a bargain-basement brand- you get what you pay for. Even Cobra is better quality.

Truly the source of motorcycle knowledge! Those are the only changes? That's incredible. So really, the S50/800cc Intruder really is a genuine classic that is still in production. Amazing how little has changed. And there's so much power on a very light bike - just my style.

Dr. Bob, what attracted me to this forum was running across one of your posts - very educational. Thanks very much for your reply. Just amazing how the changes have been so few.

Oh, why thank you for the compliments! I love the VS800 also- I've owned three of them now, and even though I have a nice new Electra Glide for long trips and an old shovelhead as a daily driver, I just can't get the smile off my face every time I ride that 800 on a twisty road.

Ride safe-
