(about photography)

Photography is a giant field. When you say part time gig, that depends on what KIND of photography you want to do (pets, children, portraits, actor headshots, wedding, etc.). So depending on what you are photography HOW you get the gig is different. For instance for weddings, it is almost all by referrals (friends telling friends). For actor headshots, you advertise in newspapers that they read. etc., etc,.

Good Luck....

Photography makes a great hobby, and if you are good you can even make a bit of money. Remember, just because you choose to have a career in one thing doesn't mean it becomes your whole life, so of course you can be a "part time photographer" just don't expect to make much money. Any money you do make will probably go towards more equipment!
Good Luck!
(PS, don't September b-days suck? All my friends go to drive before I did...)

I would start by doing portraits.. senior pictures, friends, etc. Have them tell everyone. Put posters up around the high schools. Make a facebook group. This is a good idea because then you can build up a portfolio.

It is possible. I have a teacher who is a part-time photographer. She is amazing at what she does, as well. Just recently she set up a business and a website. I think you would need to advertise your work on the internet. You'll need a photo editing software, like photoshop. I personally use paint.NET. Google it, it is free, and has almost all of the features Photoshop does, but for 700 dollars less. I'm into photography as well, but a few years younger. Anyways, good luck!
