Parkinson and Russell Brand on Paul O'Grady

Anyone see this?

I thought Parkinson was way out of line. Who the hell does he think he is?

It started with his usual rant about "celebrity" during his interview then he was nothing but rude to Russell refusing to clap, laugh or even smile, sitting as far away from him as he could and culminating with him interrupting the interview to ask him "what I want to know is what was funny about it?" in reference to Sachsgate, to deathly silence in the studio.

To quote Parky when talking about Brand two years ago. "I don't have an opinion on the other guy," he continued. "He's generously called a comedian."

Parky needs to get a grip I think.

It was a bit of a car crash combination of guests.

Humourless, self-important 'Sir' Parky, miserably withering on and still coming across as if he believes himself to be the greatest chat show host ever and how dare anybody else step on his hallowed ground.

I am a big RB fan but he went seriously beyond what was acceptable regarding AS - RB understands that certain celebs wont ever let him forget it happened - he is a professional and hopefully he can try and ignore it and not let it affect him too much

I did find it funny that just after Parky's celebrity discussion, Paul said 'Coming up next Louie Spence'

The show was like a multiple car crash last night though. I would have like to have heard what Paul said behind the scenes after that weird Plan B interview.

Well, he probably thinks he's one of the most successful television interviewers of all time, Out of line you say? I think there's only one person in this situation who has been out of line, and I doubt he'll be Knighted after over 45 years at the forefront of broadcasting.

Anyway, surely the more pertinant question is what the hell was Plan B on. the boy has a great singing voice, it's just a shame he struggles to put a coherent sentence together when speaking.

To you, maybe. But if that was even the vaguest bit true Parkinson would never have lasted as long as he did - nearly 40 years as a tv presetner and half of that as Britain's longest running chat show host, and one of the biggest ratings winners in his day. He certainly is anything but boring, and he isn't PC, nor afraid to speak his mind, thank goodness.

I didn't see this last night but I thought the same when he was on Breakfast TV a few weeks ago. He claimed it was due to lack of sleep.

I thought Parkinson had 'retired'. He's a bit of a fusty bore.

I am surprised 'Sir Michael' even 'lowered' himself by appearing on Paul's show at all, considering how snobbish he is as regards to other people trying to step onto his chat show genre territory.

Parkinson actually is the best interviewer we've ever had and he should have had more screen time last night.

Russell was far too quiet and seemed to be keeping himself in check .

Parky's question to him about the Sachs incident was relevant and its a shame Brand was not allowed to give a reply because POG had to move on to some other boring shit.

The POG 9pm show is a joke and has virtually nothing to separate itself from the 5pm version - it badly needs spicing up.

This insane requirement to talk to guests for less than 5 minutes lest the viewers gets bored is irritating.

Parky could keep a single guest chatting and without ads for an hour .

POG could also keep them chatting longer aswell.
The length of time given to guests always leaves me with "Is that it"? feeling .
Was it worth their effort making an appearance.

Even Ross interviews were a bit more thorough.

The POG show will need a huge revamp if its to continue to justify its 9pm slot .

Its throwaway tv that was fine at 5 but at 9 you expect more.

A move to after the News might help for viewers in winding down mode.

Plan B was definitely on something and he insisted on finishing his rather boring story about gang violence while he was filming. Also after his interview with Paul they went for an advert break and when they came back he had been put between Michael Parkinson and Russell Brand, maybe it was purposely done if there is bad blood between them?

Russel Brand was talking like some silly chipmunk on acid - pathetic stagey voice. Ben Drew looked way out of his depth. Was he on something or just not up to the mark?

They seem to be friends. Michael has put Paul in his book of favourite guest from his chat shows, they spent a lot of the interview talking about it.

I didn't see the show but Parkinson has to be the most overrated interviewer in the history of television! I watched some old interviews on you tube and he has always been clumsy , grumpy and unable to get much out of guests. He was lucky to start his show when the big Hollywood names were old and willing to chat.
I don't know who Plan B is but it sounds awful!

I wish I'd watched it now, but I've never liked Parkinson.

I always thought he was (is) a cranky, miserable, mumbling bore who always used to try to get a bit of a 'thing' going between him and any women guests that he fancied, who were on the show - sickening.

If he wasn't talking about/to Frank Sinatra, Billy Connolly or Sean Connery, it was some tosh about Yorkshire and his poor beginnings.

And I find it so naff for a former interviewer to now turn up on shows as the interviewee.
