I have an awesome 2.5 year old boy and a littel girl on the way in October. I am really excited but I have always had some serious body issues even though I am small to average sized. The women on my mom's side of the family especially has always been really bad about commenting on every other females physical attributes, often negatively when its totally irrelevant. For example, when I had my son there was one of those big fooferahs in our area because some poor mom got kicked out of applebee's for nursing. My Aunt and I both breastfed, but she said it would have been better for breastfeeding moms if the lady had been cute and thin rather than heavy! I was just kind of dumbfounded. Another example of this is my sister who will always mention out of nowhere that she and I should not wear miniskirts because we have thick legs. I am not thrilled with my legs but I don't really want to dwell on it, or be reminded of it randomly.
So maybe you can understand why I am worried about this kind of influence on my baby girl ev. Can you give me some advice on a tactful way to maybe discuss not putting down ourselves and others based on looks with female friends and family?? I am terrible at this kind of thing.
