he likes that death trap Razor scooter but he will not even attempt to ride a bike. Any tips?

for my kids it helped to lower the seat as far as it would go. it's not nearly as frightening if you know you can easily put your feet down and catch yourself. it was also helpful for one of my kids to put her in full-body armor, lol. we put the rollerblading gear (wrist guards, elbow pads, everything) on her and she felt invincible.

ahhhh this is a good question, Have you got a bike yourself? maybe get one for you and then ride up and down the driveway, even suggest a family picnic where you get to ride in the park...try not to force the idea, but instead show your son it is alot of fun to ride - and safer than the scooter too

I hated it when my dad would try to teach me how to ride.
Instead, I taught myself by sitting on the seat (make sure it's not too high) and rolling downhill along with my legs dangling on the sides. I would try to balance as much as possible until I felt comfortable enough to place my feet on the pedals.

Allow him his own time or he may hate the bike or even your attempts to teach him new things. But be there with him and be encouraging, never pushy.

I suppose if he does eventually learn how to ride, this will be something that he will be proud of (without crediting you haha). I imagine that it can boost his self-confidence.

my son was to but would also ride the razor i was constantly scraping him off the concrete!! but one day when he was 6 he was like ok i want a bike and e started riding he was just afraid to fall off and i guess he just grew out of it. so id say just let him be and he will grow out of being afraid.

Why does he NEED to learn to ride a bike right now? I would suggest just leaving the bike and letting him try it when he's ready, maybe when all his friends are riding and he can't keep up on the scooter he'll be more encouraged.

I didn't trust my dad and my older sister for some reason when they tried to teach me to ride, but a few weeks later I was at a friends house and they taught me on one of their bikes. For some reason it was less scary, I may just not have been ready yet when my parents tried. Everyone is ready to take on different challenges at different times. Let him wait til he's ready, even if he never learns to ride a bike it won't be the death of him.
