of in front of your peers? Hopefully you wouldn't put up with it very long.
Let's say that you have a child who is just an average kid. Quiet, not prone to causing trouble and has been taught to be respectful. Let's say that you know that a teacher that your child has to be with 5 days every week tends to be a sort of a bully, talking in a hatefully brusque manner and/or encouraging other students in the classroom to laugh when you child makes mistakes. Do you find the behavior of this teacher acceptable, even though it is probably making your child feel bad about themselves and is slowly turning your child into an angry and unhappy person?
Why is it that too often parents turn a blind eye when they know that their child is treated rudely and/or embarrassed in front of their classmates by a teacher who tends to be a bully? Do you just dismiss it as the teacher's "personality" and figure that your child will have to deal with bullies in this life anyway so why not allow this to happen in the classroom day after day? Or do you do nothing about it because you know that teachers are pretty much untouchable, and that the school will take the word of the teacher over the word of the student 90% of the time? Are you afraid that the teacher will retaliate and make your child's life even more miserable?
Again, how long would you put up with a bully day after day? And do you really feel okay with your child being mistreated by a bad teacher? You surely know that children are greatly affected by the approval or disapproval of their teachers, especially at an early age.
