Over the years, I have noticed that my mother gets hostile when I ask her a question about here history. The Q's are not invasive or meddlesome either. There things like Where did you go to school?, Who was your favorite uncle, How old were you when you learned to cook? Did your grandmother cook for you? Those are just samples of the Q's that I ask. I noticed that in my early teen years, and it was until about 4 years ago(adult years) that I started working on my genealogy that I really paid attention. She would get very very angry and use profanity when I asked her something like...can you remember what occupations any of your ancestors had? I have noticed(b/c I have a brain like a dry sponge), that her past is sketchy. She has went to several different schools, and lived w/an Aunt 8 states away, until she was sent back.
Once my uncle(her brother) found out I was working on my genealogy, he was excited and when he offered to take me to their grandfather's grave, she cursed him out, saying I don't care about sh...t like that! He was very surprised at her, but ignored her. People in her immediate family are distant from her, and they don't really try to bond w/her, and they never visit her (twice since I've been alive). they only stay 70 miles apart. Before my father died, he thought that she was being silly. Now that i'm an adult, I just think this is really strange....Any theories?
