Which is better out of the following two models?
* Panasonic 250GB HDD DVD Recorder DMR-EH59
* Sony 160GB HDD DVD Recorder RDRHX780B
My Philips DVDR3365 is seriously starting to play up. Failed to start/stop recording. Unknown disk. Unresponsive to commands when trying to stop or eject disk. Retailers in NZ & Australia no longer sell Philips DVD Recorders. Brought my Philips DVDR3365 in 2006 for $299 and it's 2011 and the price for DVD Recorders has shot up to over $500, that's even more than I paid for my Xbox 360 Slim 250GB console which was only $449 from Noel Leeming. And DVD Recorders are becoming extinct, with retailers in NZ & Australia only having like 0-3 models in stock.
Which is better. Which starts up faster. Which is more user friendly. Panasonic's user manual is only about 80 pages where as Sony's is about 160 pages. Sony is a massive company with many bodies where as Panasonic is much simpler. Both are reputable brands. I enjoy Philips but rang them and they no longer provide DVD Recorders. Have a Philips 29' TV. Hard drive capacity isn't really important. Which model is the latest out of the two, and how long will these models be able to perform well for (3,4,5+ years)? Also which is more easier to use? Sony's RRP is $499, but Panasonic's RRP is $699 but is selling at $447. Should I wait until when all retailers have sells every Thursday. Sky TV sells a similar device but has a $15/month cost or a $599 one off cost. But don't want to go for this. Thanks.
