( PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS )
I could give all the specifics, details and complicated facts for this recurring nightmare, but I'm going to sum it up briefly:
> PROBLEM:
TV + PS3 + HDMI = no picture / no sound
TV + Laptop + HDMI = no picture / no sound
TV + Desktop + DVI-to-HDMI = PICTURE
> LEGEND:
TV: Panasonic Plasma HDTV
PS3 = Playstation 3
HDMI = the two HDMI cables I have tried. One is my friend's so I know at least that one works.
DVI-to-HDMI = a converter cable that converts a DVI signal to HDMI
Laptop = Three different laptops I have tried
Desktop = My brother's desktop computer

Okay, so maybe you want more details.
I should also note that only ONE of the ports on my TV seems to work, the port labeled "HDMI 2" on the back. HDMI 1 and HDMI 3 do nothing. HDMI 2, however, works with the desktop.
How do I make the PS3 work with the TV again? It was working perfect on this year-old TV when suddenly, lo and behold, NO MORE!!! It happened after I connected the desktop to the TV one day through HDMI 2, then I re-hooked the PS3 to discover absolute failure.
> I HAVE TRIED THE FOLLOWING SOLUTIONS:
- Resetting my TV to factory-default settings via MUTE + some other button, or something.
- Unplugging my TV overnight to "reset the HDMI ports," or so I've been told that's what it does.
