Panasonic HDMI CEC-signal (VIERA link) trouble?

I have a panasonic 50" plasma TV (TH-50PZ80EA), with 3 HDMI ports.
HDMI1 is attached to a Panasonic DMR-EH68 hdd player.
HDMI2 is attached to a Panasonic SA-PT860 surround amplifier.
HDMI3 is attached to a Roxcore EZ-play HD.

When I attach the EZ-player on HDMI3, then usually the Viera Link (CEC) menu (for HDMI1 and HDMI2) doesn't
popup ("function not available"), or else I get warnings ("check cables").
NOTE: This happens sometimes even if the EZ-player is off (and unplugged from the mains!), but with the HDMI3 still attached.
I have also tried to change the HDMI cables etc. but that doesn't help.

I'm not sure it is caused by the EZ-player since it may also happen when it's not attached (HDMI3 unplugged), but less frequently.
Perhaps it is just triggered by using all 3 HDMI connections at the same time?

According to the manufacturer the EZ-player doesn't use the CEC signal, but could it still be loading down the signal from the TV?
Should I suspect a bad circuit in the TV?
Everything else works perfectly (video, audio: with all 3 devices and HDMI ports).

Anyone with a similar problem?
