Bought a Panasonic Cordless from the US with 5 handsets. Had read on Amazon that some Panasonic 5.5 Volt adapters work fine in Indian 230 Volts AC.
Not in my case though. I plugged one in yesterday and a few hours later the adapter died.
So here are my options:
1. Buy replacement adapter from Panasonic India for Rs. 750 (HIGH! and out of stock right now). They also have a transformer one for Rs. 550. Personally I would pay Rs. 200 more if I have to stick with Panasonic. Please bear in mind that since I need 5 adapters, this would work out to a tidy Rs. 3,750.
2. 5.5 volt DC does not exist outside of Panasonic. So can I use 5V DC or 6V DC? Which one is better? Also it appears that the jack is not a common one, but I can solder the ones from the 110 V if I choose this option.
3. See if I can buy something from China through AliBaba.
4. 110 to 230 Volt transformer is an option I am not considering because it is not energy efficient PLUS there are too many components.
Look forward to your answers! If anyone needs the size of the jack, I am willing to measure.
