panasonic ak 630 speaker question?

PANASONIC AK 630 was given to me. i noticed the speakers have two sets of wires that were ripped off. one set of black and red, one set of blue and gray. i understand how to connect them in the back of the stereo but im not sure if i need to connect both sets of colored wire to the back of the stereo..it seems that one set is missing so i was only going to connect one speaker. this is my first time doing this so i hope i didnt confuse anyone. i connected only the blue and gray wire to back of stereo but there is no sound
