I've been having palpitations & chest pains for about 6 months. the diziness started about a month after that. the palpitations are there 24/7 and its making me very worried. about 2 weeks ago i had a huge panic attack. initially i thort it was a heart attack.. the heart rate went down and i was panicking so much i made myself have another 1.. arabulance took me into A&E, did an ECG and a chest x-ray. they say there's nothing wrong with my heart. but the last 2 days i've had a dull ache in my head, i keep getting a dull ache in my left arm and right now the chest pains are there. only very slightly but directly in the middle of my chest. i am starting to think that maybe i need an mri scan or a 24 hour ecg and im worried they havent picked up on something in the hospital. what does everyone think the root of my problem is? anxiet/panic disorder (which the doc keeps putting it down to), or some sort of underlying heart problem?

Hi,

I really sympathise with you. Ive had panic attacks for years. Then i started getting really bad palps, so decided to see a cardiologist. They did lots of tests on my heart and said it was all fine, except i have something called mild AF. This is when the electrics of my heart go a little haywire for a few seconRAB sometimes, it was bad enough for me to have to stop the car a few times as i felt faint.

The Cardio put me on a small dose beta blocker i take one a day. It's definetely helped a lot, but the last few weeks ive had quite a lot of stress in my life and i noticed its breaking through again, so hes just upping the pills a little bit to see if that helps. I always worry as my dad had a heart attack at 44 and im 48 and over weight. Its always in the back of my mind ill have a cardiac. But my Cardio says AF and palps are not dangerous just scary and uncomfortable.

Go see the Doctor again and ask for an echocardiogram, and an excercise stress treadmill test, that way you will know for sure if there is a problem with your heart, and if its just stress or what i have, it can be easily rectified.

Good luck and try not to fret too much.
