Palm viruses/spyware?

I'm a new TX user with a mixed ethernet/WiFi home network. I have very stiff spyware, malware, spam, and virus filtering (plus a good third party firewall) on the pc's connected to my home network, which is itself behind a DHCP router. This setup, with 4 XP based PC's on it, runs like a Swiss watch. Now that I have a new Tungsten TX, I can use it via the WiFi network connection to download email from my ISP just like my desktop, but of course there's not an ounce of spam/spyware filtering or anti-virus software on the TX. I tested the email setup last night and was shocked at the resulting amount of spam that ended up on my TX, almost all of which would have never made it through the filtering on my PC. I have the TX's email set up so that downloaded emails off the ISP's server are left intact on the server, which allows me download the same emails later to my PC. I do it this way because I routinely receive large photo attachments and such via email.

So, the question: I have to assume there are Windows email viruses floating around that will be trapped by my PC that would NOT be caught by my TX. I'm hoping none of those can (yet) attack Palm OS 5x, but I wonder. Are there currently viruses out there that can harm my TX or it's contents?

It appears that PDA email send/receive software is waaay ahead of PDA anti-virus, anti-spam, and anti-spyware software. As a result, I'm a bit afraid to use my new TX for email. I also worry about the same problems lurking just surfing the web on the PDA using Blazer. As PDA usage becomes more and more prevalent on the web, some jerk will be trying to hack the Palm OS - heck, it's probably already been done, but I haven't read much about this.

Is this wasted worrying, or is this a real problem?

I have never heard of a virus that could affect Palm OS. Really, it would have to be a PDB or PRC file and you would have to explicitly install it...so I doubt any exist that self-propogate anyway.

As for filtering, you're best option is probably to find an email provider that offers server-side anti-spam & anti-virus.
