Palm Tx slower than Palm E

I had Palm E then I got a Tx. The Tx is about four times slower than the E. I removed all third-party programs and it is still slow. Might it be possible to put the Palm E op sys in the Tx? Thx.

Many of us have switched from the TE to the TX and the TX is very decidedly faster. However, my initial experience was that the TX was a bit slower (no where near four times slower though) but my problem turned out to be that I had installed all the old apps from my TE on to the TX. Some were not compatible and caused the slow down.

My advice to you would be to do a hard reset (not simply delete third party apps) then measure the performance. If it is still slower, contact Palm and explain to them.

Thanks for the reply. I better go to Palm Cuz I did a hard reset plus I renamed "Backup" "backup.old" like the Palm site said. Then I removed Palm from my pc then I reloaded Palm desktop on my pc then reloaded Palm to my pc then I sync'd ect. THEN I beamed just contacts from my Palm E to my Tx then sinc'd Tx to my pc. But the Tx is still slow.
PS: I called Circuit City yesterday (I have a 2-yr contract)and they said go to Palm site-they probably have a newer version of Tx op sys-none I could find. Maybe I better call C. City again....

I am quite certain that there is no newer version of the operating system for the TX. It has on it the only version available.

My suggestion was to hard reset and then test the TX's speed BEFORE putting anything on it. Then retest the speed after each thing you put on, such as beaming your old contacts to the TX.

My TX ran slower than my old TE after I had beamed a bunch of apps and PIM databases to the TX. I finally did a hard reset and then individually put apps on my TX, and ONLY apps that were already approved as being compatible with the TX. I also found that there was corrupt data in some of my old TE's database files that was giving fits on the TX. This has all been some time ago and I do not remember what apps were problems but as I recall there was corrution in the Memos db file that was causing me a lot of HotSyncing problems.

Sorry Gregte for not communicating very well after your sugg to hard reset/test before I load anything.

But I did hard reset and test but with just the two records in contacts-no real test could be done. It acts normal w just 2 records.

So to really test it-I loaded the 2000 plus records from my palm e. then I tested it.

The Tx takes 12 seconds to find the record that begins with "zieg" and the palm e only takes 2 maybe 3 seconds to find the same record.

I think the Tx is just slower cuz the op sys is not the same as the e.

Thx for your help....
